Sapphire Caravan & Cabin Park
Tranquility in a beautiful bush setting
The Sapphire Gemfields is situated in central Queensland on the tropic of Capricorn, 42 km west of Emerald on the Capricorn highway. Situated on over 4 acres of beautiful bushland in the middle of the Gemfields, Sapphire Caravan & Cabin Park offers its guests a peaceful and tranquil stay. With great bush views, abundant birds and wildlife, you will feel like you are staying in a retreat rather than a Caravan Park. Try your luck at finding a sapphire at the many designated fossicking sites.
After a day of fossicking or just taking it easy and relaxing by the swimming pool, you can sit in the huge barbeque hut with open fireplace and free gas barbeques and firewood, then watch the wildlife feed before enjoying one of our magical sunsets. Our accommodation includes fully self-contained Billy Boulder cottages, or budget miner’s huts, which are all air-conditioned. Spoil yourself and stay in our "Sapphire Suite" with a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival. We have 31 powered sites and shady campsites in a peaceful bush setting, where you can enjoy a campfire under the stars.
Sapphire Caravan & Cabin Park is the proud recipient of the Trip Advisor Excellence Award. The park has won the award in 3 consecutive years now, 2016, 2017 and 2018

Things To Do
Visit Miners Heritage, Australia’s largest underground walk-in sapphire mine tour where you can experience what it’s like to be a miner. There’s an underground museum where you can read about some of the sapphires that have been found over the years, and after the tour, you can buy a bucket of ‘wash’ and fossick for your own gem.
There are gem shops, galleries, and jewellers in both Sapphire and Rubyvale for you to purchase the gem of your dreams. If you are lucky enough to find your own, there are gem cutters available to facet, and jewellers to set them or visit the lapidary club and join in on the many lapidary activities.
When you have finished fossicking, visit Lake Maraboon, Queensland’s second largest lake, and the Fairbairn Dam before you leave. You can hire kayaks and boats if you want to get out on the water or go fishing. The lake is home to eight different species of fish, including the Red Claw shellfish. The birdlife is prolific so you can just enjoy bird watching or relax on the grassy banks.
