Crystal Creek Caravan Park QLD

One of the things I really like about caravan parks is their character. Most parks
have a certain feel to them that makes them very special. Then, new owners come in
and everything changes. Well, not always and Crystal Creek is a prime example of
how new owners work to keep the character of the park they have just bought.
Kim and Nat had got to the point in their lives when they wanted a change. Working
in one profession for 20 plus years is ok, but then you can wake up one morning and
know it is time for a change.
Well, luckily for caravanners, they decided that the change would be to buy a
caravan park that they liked and keep its atmosphere while doing all the upgrades
and changes that were needed.
The prime example is their Entertainment area. This is at the back of the amenities
building and one of the best camp kitchens I have seen in a very long time. When I
looked at the Entertainment Area I wanted to congratulate them on its great condition
because I thought it was there when they bought the park. Imagine my surprise
when I was told it had just been finished one month ago and had been built to blend
in with the parks atmosphere.
The style and presentation fitted in perfectly with the rest of the park. It really was an
excellent upgrade and character retainer. One of the things they do is provide music
sessions there that are becoming very popular with guests and the locals.
Nat and Kim bought the park in February 2024, and have done a lot of work on it
since then. But, you never really see them doing it because they do the major work
during off peak times. Another thing they have added is the Bean Buggy. It’s an old
tear drop camper that has been refitted to have everything you need to make great
coffee. They do this on Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 10am.
We stayed in a great drive through site, which was close to the amenities. Those
amenities are very well maintained, and some of them have thoroughly entertaining
signs. The first sign I saw was ‘Smile. You’re losing weight.’ Well, I did smile and
laughed too!
Going back to the camp kitchen. It’s well kitted out with so much equipment, and
that’s not just crockery but all the equipment I have at home and more! Plus they
have one special cupboard which is full of this and that foods or additives. What
makes this special? Well you can just help yourself and there is nothing to pay and
you don’t need to put it back if you don’t use it all. It’s yours to keep.
Tucked away is a Gym, which is kept locked, but there are instructions on how to
open it up so you can go in and use the equipment. I think it’s a great idea helping
you keep fit while having a relaxing holiday!
There’s a massive area for unpowered camping. This is undergoing some upgrades
what will make it possible for people to rent the whole area for things like a wedding,
a birthday or any event that you want to have a big celebration for in your own area.
The walkway to the Creek is in this area too. When we went for the walk, the creek
was low but a few hours later it was high tide and very much higher.
Add in the cabins, playground, basketball hoop, swimming pool, wading pool, camp
kitchen, and some aged equipment on display and you have an amazing and really
lovely caravan park.
The park website is excellent because it includes heaps of information on local
shops, things to do in the area and a huge range of other things. This park is a real
winner and we will be back.
