Sweet Relief Lake Leslie Tourist Park

Alison and Peter shake off the summer heat with a relaxing stay at the leafy Lake Leslie Tourist Park, Qld.

We’ve never been to Lake Leslie Tourist Park before, in fact we’ve never been anywhere near Leslie Dam. We really are the ones who have been missing out!

The park is about 12 km from Warwick, a place we’ve been to many times. But it’s so different from Warwick that you could be hundreds of kms away. What you have here is a water paradise.

The Park has a relaxed, easy feel to it no matter how busy it is. The day we arrived there were somewhere between 200 and 300 Scouts in tents, but they were all on one side of the park. After we set up on our site, we didn’t see or hear the Scouts at all. The area they had was on one side of the entrance road and the main block of powered sites is on the other.

Water Play

Once you have set up, it’s an easy stroll to Leslie Dam, and that is the main attraction here. It’s all about water sports and fishing. Boats, SUPs, canoes, water skiing, jet skis and fishing rods were just a few of the things we saw on and around the water.

Peter and I are not real water sports enthusiasts, but just sitting amongst the trees at the water’s edge is a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. It was pretty hot over the days we were there, so the shade of the trees at the Lake and on the park were much appreciated. There’s plenty of room to just sit and relax. Plus there’s plenty of room to kick a ball and let the kids run off some energy.

Quiet, even when it’s Busy

I was chatting to our neighbours who are regulars here. A couple of years ago they came for a day or two. After the day or two they extended to a week. After the week, they extended again and that kept happening until they had been there for six weeks. They just love the park, it’s quiet even when it’s busy.  This time they have exactly 16 days here, they cannot squeeze any more days out of their schedule!

If you don’t want to swim in the Lake you can enjoy time in the pool on the park. While most people bring their own accommodation, there are on-site cabins too. If you have ever hankered to sleep in a four poster bed, you need to book the Cottage.

No Confusion!

One of the things I really appreciated was the rubbish bins. Stay with me here. When you travel around the lid colours can be different from one state (or maybe even area) to another. Just so there is no mistake here, they have provided a very clear, easy to follow list of what goes in which bin. That makes it so much easier to make sure that anything recyclable goes in the right bin.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lake Leslie Tourist Park, a member of Kui Parks Australia.
