Sweet Relief Lake Leslie Tourist Park

Alison and Peter shake off the summer heat with a relaxing stay at the leafy Lake Leslie Tourist Park in Queensland.

We’d never been to Lake Leslie Tourist Park before, in fact, we’d never been anywhere near Leslie Dam. It turns out, we’ve been missing out!

Located just 12 km from Warwick, the park feels worlds apart. While Warwick hums with country town energy, Lake Leslie is a peaceful water paradise surrounded by gum trees and fresh country air.

A Relaxed, Easygoing Atmosphere

From the moment we arrived, the park had an easy, laid-back feel. Despite there being around 200–300 Scouts camping nearby, they were set up on one side of the grounds. Once we’d settled into our site, we didn’t see or hear them at all. The main powered sites are well positioned on the other side of the entrance, ensuring a quiet and restful stay.

Water Play

A short stroll from your campsite brings you to the stunning Leslie Dam, the heart of this destination. Here it’s all about water fun, from boating, stand-up paddleboarding, and kayaking to water skiing and fishing.

Peter and I aren’t big on water sports, but we found simply sitting in the shade by the water’s edge the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Even on hot days, the leafy trees around both the lake and the park offer plenty of cool, inviting shade. There’s loads of open space for a picnic, to kick a ball, or let the kids burn off some energy.

Quiet, even when it’s Busy

Our neighbours, regulars at the park, told us they first came for a quick visit, one or two days, but ended up staying six weeks! They love that the park remains peaceful even when full. This trip, they’d managed to book exactly 16 days, wishing they could stay longer.

If you’d rather cool off in a pool, you’re in luck, the park also has a swimming pool onsite. Accommodation options include comfortable cabins, and if you’ve ever wanted to sleep in a four-poster bed, the charming Cottage is a must.

Little Touches That Matter

It may seem small, but we appreciated the clear recycling setup. When you travel between regions, bin lid colours can vary, making it confusing to know what goes where. At Lake Leslie Tourist Park, they’ve made it easy with simple, well-labelled signage, a thoughtful touch that keeps things tidy and eco-friendly.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lake Leslie Tourist Park, Warwick Queensland. With its natural beauty, friendly atmosphere, and lakeside charm, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger just a little longer.
