Things To Do

Tenterfield sits in a valley astride the Great Dividing Range. Steeped in history, our town and the surrounding region has a wide variety of activities to suit everyone and every budget.

Tenterfield was the birthplace of Peter Allen, so visit the Tenterfield Saddler made famous by his song, which took our town to the international stage. We have a number of museums where you can learn about our history, as well as historic walks, WWII tank traps, our historic Cork tree from 1861, and the Sir Henry Parkes School of Arts where it’s namesake made his Federation speech in 1889.

There are beautiful scenic drives and heritage trails if you want to explore the area, as well as National Parks. You will find plenty of opportunities to walk, swim, hike, picnic, or just enjoy nature. Along the way, visit a number of local wineries and farm gates, and enjoy the local produce.

We have one of the finest inland golf courses in Australia, and Tenterfield’s surrounding area offers plenty of adventure and outdoor activities. You can enjoy fishing, canoeing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, 4WD tours, as well as a round of golf on one of Australia’s finest golf courses.
